The church of Our Lady of the Sablon, is one of the most important buildings in Brussels and a true masterpiece of the Brabantine Gothic style. The construction was undertaken at the end of the fourteenth century and completed in the middle of the fifteenth century.

The building, with its elegant proportions and sublime architectural decorative details, has a good stylistic uniformity and has remained almost intact over the centuries; at the end of the nineteenth century it underwent later additions and manipulations in the external elevations (spiers and pinnacles).
