Mountain Mario (Monte Mario) is the hill that rises in the north-west area of Rome, on the right bank of the Tiber, crossed by the Via Trionfale.
Traces of a fortified settlement (oppidum according to Roman terminology) of the Orientalizing (VIII-VII century BC) and Archaic (VI century BC) with large moats and a necropolis with chamber tombs dug into the tuff (perhaps one of the Septem pagi stolen, according to tradition, by Romulus from the Etruscans of Veio) were brought to light during the construction of the Monte Mario Alto district.
Is a small portion of Municipio Roma XV of Rome, thus including part of the Quarters Trionfale, Della Vittoria and Primavalle.
