The Maison Musée Berton is a wonderful private villa built by brothers Robert and Louis Berton in 1975 as a place for holidays and rest in their mother's homeland, La Thuile.
Although engaged in very different professions - Louis notary and Robert professor of physical education - the two brothers shared a love for the Aosta Valley from every point of view.
Over the course of their lives they have fervently collected furnishings and handicrafts such as tools, sculptures and paintings that they have lovingly placed in the large house in La Thuile.
Originally from La Thuile, Robert-Joseph Berton was born in Aosta, son of Jean-Dominique, shopkeeper, and Giulia Venturin. He dedicates his life to the preservation and dissemination of the heritage of the Aosta Valley as regards cultural heritage.
He worked at the "Comité des traditions valdôtaines", the Académie Saint-Anselme and the municipal council of Aosta.
In La Thuile there is the Maison-musée Berton, a museum of Valle d'Aosta craftsmanship, dedicated to the work and memory of the Robert and Louis brothers.
ANCIENT KNOWLEDGE, REDISCOVERED TRADITIONS, HOUSES OF THE AGE, WAYS OF SPEAKING, MEMORIES OF A PAST NOT FAR AND MUCH MORE.
MAISON BERTON IS THE WITNESS OF A TRADITION THAT HAS MADE THE AOSTA VALLEY WHAT IT IS NOW.
