The Don Alfonso 1890 Restaurant is the mirror of a philosophy that innovates by respecting the millenary culture and food traditions of the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast. Housed in a 19th-century Neapolitan palace, the restaurant's design spaces have bright colors, lilac, yellow, orange and pink, designed to enhance the natural light of the Mediterranean, a way to transport the traveler in the extraordinary atmosphere of Southern Italy.
Our menu opens with a phrase by Eduardo De Filippo: "Only after having studied, deepened and respected the tradition, you have the right to put it aside, but always with the awareness that we are indebted to it, at least, for have helped to clarify our ideas. Of course, if we remain anchored to the past, life that continues becomes life that stops but, if we use tradition as a springboard, it is obvious that we will jump much higher ". Innovating, keeping up with the times, is fundamental, but we want to do it while maintaining a very precise identity, linked to our history, to our land. The activity of Don Alfonso 1890 develops around this inseparable link.
The work of man, his professionalism and the ability to innovate while respecting tradition, are the best vehicle for revealing the culture and values of a territory to the world. Food that becomes the heritage of a land and is its expression, like a monument or an architectural representation. The Don Alfonso 1890 cellar is a millenary and evocative environment created from a pre-Roman period tunnel where over 25,000 precious bottles and an aging chamber dedicated to cheeses are kept. The 1300 labels present in the Don Alfonso 1890 cellar come from all over the world, some highly prestigious bottles are real treasures; the jewels of this casket, in the hands of expert sommeliers, are excellent "travel companions" for dishes served in the restaurant or in the hotel garden.
