Villa Doria Pamphilj or Villino Algardi - Casino del Bel Breath is a historic residence that includes the largest urban public park in Rome, located just outside the walls in the Gianicolense district.
The Villa Doria Pamphilj is a historic residence which includes the third largest public park in Rome (184 hectares) after the Appia Antica Regional Park and the Pineto Regional Park.
Inside is the Casino del Bel Respiro or Algardi, which is the official seat of the Italian government.
It originates from the country estate of the Roman noble family of the same name, designed by Alessandro Algardi and Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi in the seventeenth century, from the merger of several pre-existing vineyards.
It was expropriated during the twentieth century, divided in two in 1960 for the opening of via Leone XIII (part of the via Olimpica), and opened to the public in 1972.
