Villa Allegri, Arvedi is the largest Venetian villa in the province of Verona, located in the hamlet of Cuzzano in the municipality of Grezzana, in the middle of Valpantena and 9 km from Verona. The current Baroque style building was built by the architect Giovanni Battista Bianchi in the mid-seventeenth century, although the presence of a structure is documented since the thirteenth century.
The adjacent church and the large hall on the first floor are frescoed by Ludovico Dorigny. Other paintings are by Paolo Farinati and Sante Prunati. In 1824 it was purchased by Giovanni Antonio Arvedi and is still owned by the family.
The origins of villa Arvedi date back to 1200 and it is documented as a home owned by the Scala family. In 1400 Jacopo Dal Verme took possession of the villa and subsequently, in 1442, the Republic of Venice confiscated it and offered it for sale together with all the remaining properties of Jacopo's rebel nephew, Alvise Dal Verme.
It was purchased by the Allegri, a very important and powerful family at the time. Around 1650 it was built in its current forms based on a design by the architect Giovanni Battista Bianchi. Over the years, the Allegri dynasty gradually lost its political and financial prestige, until in 1824 Lucrezia, the last descendant of the Veronese family, sold the villa to Giovanni Antonio Arvedi from Trentino.
