San Candido

San Candido is an Italian town in the autonomous province of Bolzano, in Trentino-Alto Adige, located in Alta Pusteria. Market town since 1303, San Candido is today a renowned winter and summer tourist resort in the Dolomites, included in the Tre Cime natural park.

San Candido is located near the Dobbiaco saddle, beyond the Alpine watershed, as it is crossed by the Drava river, a tributary of the Danube. San Candido and nearby Sesto are therefore among the few Italian municipalities that are not part of the Italian geographic region because they belong to the hydrographic basin of the Danube.

The territory of San Candido represents the last point (to the west) of diffusion of the arfa, a characteristic grain dryer consisting of two vertical poles joined by horizontal poles. Climate classification: zone F.
