Alfa Romeo historical museum

The is an exhibition space dedicated to the vehicles produced by the Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo, located in Arese, Lombardy.

THE TIME MACHINE

It is located within the area once occupied by the Alfa Romeo production plant, near the former "Centro Direzionale".

The complex is located in an area where the production of cars ended in 2002, while that of engines in 2005, after which the industrial activity was closed.

The museum, strongly supported by Giuseppe Luraghi, was inaugurated on 18 December 1976 by Gaetano Cortesi, at the time president and CEO (1974 - 1978) of Alfa Romeo.

The museum project, together with that of the "Centro Direzionale", is signed by the architects Vito and Gustavo Latis.

The museum is dedicated to the production of Alfa Romeo, which manufactured cars, commercial vehicles, locomotives, tractors, buses, trolley buses, marine engines and aircraft propulsion systems.

It extends for 4800 m2, and its six floors are divided into four thematic areas.

Alfa Romeo owns 256 cars and 150 historic engines.

Until February 7, 2011, the collection then exhibited consisted of 118 models, 25 car engines and 15 aircraft engines, while today only 69 specimens are shown to the public in relation to the historical events in which they were involved.

The museum has at least one model of each car assembled by the Biscione house.

The museum's fleet includes production cars, racing models, prototypes and concept cars, and 60% of them are still functional.

Many of them are unique pieces. Ample space is also dedicated to vintage photos and promotional posters that have been collected by the "Historical Documentation Center" of the house
