The Kyaiktiyo Pagoda (Burmese က် ဳá€á€€á€¹ ထီး ရá€á€¯á€¸ ရá€á€¯á€¸, IPA tÉ•aiÊ”tÊ°íjó pÊ°É™já), also known as Golden Rock or Golden Rock) is the third most important Buddhist pilgrimage site in Burma, after the Shwedagon Pagoda and the Mahamuni Temple. It is located in the Mon State and it is a small stupa just over 7 meters high built on top of a granite boulder covered with numerous layers of gold leaves attacked by devotees.
According to legend, the rock would be in a precarious balance above a lock of Buddha's hair. The rock, the pagoda and all the structures built around it are on the top of Mount Kyaiktiyo, and it is said from many parts that a visit to this place is enough to convert to Buddhism.
