The National Museum of Warsaw (Muzeum Narodowe W Warszawie, MNW) is an art museum in Warsaw, founded in 1862 as the "Museum of Fine Arts of Warsaw"; it is one of the largest museums in Poland and the largest in Warsaw.

The museum collects ancient art (Egyptian, Greek, Roman), Polish painting from the thirteenth century, a collection of foreign painting (Italian, French, Dutch, German and Russian), numismatics and objects of decorative arts.
The museum's modernist building was built between 1927 and 1938 to a design by Tadeusz ToÅ‚wiÅ „ski; since 1933 the east wing has housed the Museum of the Polish Army in Warsaw.

Due to the German looting of Polish cultural assets during the Second World War, the museum lost a large part of the collection, including 99% of the numismatic collection, 100% of the watches, 80% of the gold and gold collection. jewelery and significant percentages of applied art collections.

The museum was nationalized in 1945.
