Uluru Mount

Uluṟu (called in English Ayers Rock) is the most imposing rocky massif of the Australian outback. Surrounded by the completely flat surface of the bush, Uluru is visible from tens of kilometers away and is famous for its intense red color, which changes spectacularly (from ocher, to gold, to bronze, to violet) according to the time of day and season; features that make it one of the icons of Australia.

The surface, which from a distance appears almost completely smooth, reveals many springs, puddles, caves, peculiar erosive phenomena and ancient paintings approaching. Uluru is located in Australia (Oceania) in the Northern Territory, in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, 450 km southwest of the city of Alice Springs.

It is a sacred place for Aboriginal people, formally returned by the Australian government to the indigenous people of the place in 1985.
