It is a circular concrete tower, surmounted by a "lantern", that is the room that houses the light signal, surrounded by a service balcony ("gallery"). The tower is painted in black and white horizontal bands. The structure incorporates a seven-story building that housed the staff before the lighthouse was automated.
Located in an uninhabited area, with long winters and far from energy sources, the lighthouse was completely automated, the energy source for the light beam and the radio signal was a series of atomic batteries. The plant now abandoned, was able to function autonomously for many months without any human presence. Currently the lighthouse is uninhabited and in strong lack of maintenance, the electric generators have been removed.
