The Burning Man is an eight-day festival that takes place every year since 1986 in Black Rock City, a city that lives only a few days, on the salty expanse (sabkha) of the Black Rock Desert in the State of Nevada, 90 miles away (150 km ) north-northeast of Reno.
The festival ends with the American Labor Day party in September.
The festival is described by the organizers as an experiment in the community, a radical expression of self and radical self-confidence.

The name derives from the ritual that consists in burning a large wooden puppet on Saturday night.
There are no concerts with big names and there are no advertised performances.
Each of the participants is free to organize exhibitions, art exhibitions, performances, workshops and games and report them, or not, to the organization of the festival.
Each participant must bring camping equipment, electricity generators, food and water for their own survival and the only things on sale in the city are ice and coffee; the barter and the gift are the only permitted forms of transfer of ownership of goods, food and water.
In Black Rock City mobile phones do not work and in addition to being able to experience some sudden sandstorms, during the day temperatures exceed 40 ° C and at night they can drop by several tens of degrees, which is why most events take place after sunset.
It is not recommended to bring children to the event.
In 2019 the ticket to participate in the festival costs $ 425.

Inspired by ten fundamental principles (radical inclusiveness, autonomy, self-expression, cooperation, civil responsibility, gift propensity, liberation from consumer goods, participation, spontaneity and leaving no trace), the event does not include any type of sale or service accessory: all the works are destroyed at the end of the festival, giving a show that most of us are lucky enough to enjoy only in photos.
