The Eyewear Museum, located in Pieve di Cadore (Belluno), is dedicated to the historical and technological evolution of eyewear and objects related to optics, from the Middle Ages to the 1900s, and to the history of the development of the eyewear industry in the Cadore. More than 3000 glasses with various accessories and numerous optical instruments are on display.
Born in the 1950s from an idea of the doctor and archaeologist Enrico De Lotto, developed and created later by Vittorio Tabacchi, president of the Safilo company, the museum was inaugurated in 1990; since 1996 it has been managed by the Onlus Eyewear Museum Foundation, and since 2007 it has been housed in a modern building, adjacent to the birthplace of Tiziano Vecellio.
