Mira is an Italian town in the metropolitan city of Venice in Veneto.
It is a scattered municipality as the municipal seat is the hamlet of Mira Taglio.
In 302 BC the historian Tito Livio narrates that a Spartan fleet landed on a beach in the upper Adriatic: the coast was formed by thin strips of sand, behind which there were lagoons communicating directly with the sea through port mouths.
Behind the stretch of water they saw fields on which, in the distance, hills stood out and a wide and deep river that poured its waters into the lagoons.
The description of this place seems to be the lagoon of Venice, the Myrese territory characterized by the presence of the Brenta river.
The Myrese area in fact in the 2nd century BC. it was crossed by the delta of Medoacus Maior.
