National Archaeological Museum of Pontecagnano - Etruscans of the FrontierThe National Archaeological Museum named after the 'Etruscans of the Frontier' collects the finds from the Villanovan and Etruscan-Campania center of Pontecagnano. It is a heritage of inestimable value, the most consistent core of which is represented by the finds from over 9000 burials excavated in the necropolis of Pontecagnano in the last fifty years.
The visit itinerary follows an exhibition arrangement which, unfolding in a chronological sense, with sections dedicated to the illustration of the different eras, from the Eneolithic period to the Roman Age, attempts to offer the visitor moments of in-depth study of the city and its urban development, necropolis, sanctuaries, artisanal productions.
Central to the exhibition is the section dedicated to the aristocracies of the Orientalising period (end of the 8th - end of the 7th century BC), to which some burials can be referred which, due to the composition and quality of the funerary equipment, have been defined as 'princely'.
