Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan

Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawarahawihan, also known simply as Wat Arun, is a Buddhist temple (wat) in the Bangkok Yai district of Bangkok, Thailand. It is located in Thonburi, on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River.

The temple takes its name from the Hindu god Aru?a, often personified by the radiation of the rising sun. Wat Arun is among the best-known monuments in Thailand.

Although the temple has existed since at least the 17th century, its distinctive prang (spire) was built in the early 19th century during the reigns of Rama II and Rama III.

The prang and temple buildings are decorated with porcelain shards.

Hours: Every day from 08.00 to 18.00
