Villa Astalli

Villa Astalli is a 17th-century villa located in the Esquilino district of Rome, Italy. It was built for Cardinal Camillo Astalli, a member of the prominent Astalli family. The villa was originally a grand estate with a large garden, but today only a small portion of the original villa remains.

The remaining building is now owned by the Daughters of Our Lady of Calvary, a religious order. The facade of the building is decorated with stucco plaques and busts, and the interior features a main hall with a frieze depicting fantastical landscapes. A modern chapel is also located on the property.

The gardens of Villa Astalli are long gone, but a few remnants can still be seen, including a simple fountain that now stands in the garden in front of the side facade of the building.

Despite its diminished state, Villa Astalli is a reminder of the grandeur of Roman villas in the 17th century. It is a hidden gem in the heart of Rome, and is well worth a visit for those interested in Roman history and architecture.
