The Church of Sant'Alessandro in Zebedia is a parish church in Milan located in the town square of the same name.
Built starting from 1601 on what is traditionally indicated as the place of imprisonment of Saint Alexander the Martyr, the so-called "Zebedia" or "Zebedeo" prison from the Roman period, hence the name of the church, is characterized by a Greek cross inscribed in a rectangular plan with vaults resting on isolated columns: these, together with other architectural features of the building, were widely taken up and developed in most of central-northern Italy.
At the same time, due to the strong references to famous previous architectures, the church represents the junction point between late Mannerism and the first Lombard Baroque.
