The Temple of Janus is located in the Forum Olitorio in Rome and was the one located on the right and closest to the Theater of Marcellus.
Built by Gaius Duilio at the time of the first Punic war, the building was restored in 17 by Tiberius.
The temple was of the peripteral sine postìcum type (with columns on three sides), with eight tuff columns (peperino) on the long sides and six on the front (hexastyle), covered in stucco and raised on an elegantly shaped low podium.
