Siponto Archaeological Park
The Archaeological Park of Siponto is located in the region of Puglia, Italy, and houses important evidence of the ancient Roman city of Siponto, founded in the 3rd century BCE and destroyed by an earthquake in the 13th century.
The park includes several archaeological sites, including the ruins of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the most important sacred buildings of the Roman era in Puglia, known for its mosaic floor and frescoes.
The park also includes the ruins of a Roman amphitheater, with a capacity of about 10,000 spectators, as well as remains of an ancient city wall, a thermal complex, and a Roman port.
