Villino Ximenes is the only building in Rome in the Liberty Floral style built in the early twentieth century.
The designers were Ernesto Basile and Leonardo Paterna Baldizzi with the collaboration of the same client Ettore Ximenes (1855-1926) who designed and planned all the internal and external decorative elements of the villa.
The building, the sculptor's Roman residence, was inaugurated in 1902.
Upon his death, the heirs made the first transformations in some areas of the villa, dividing it into apartments. In the 1950s the Villino was purchased by a Catholic association of lay people who manage a university residence called: "Collegio Universitario Villa Ximenes".
Over the decades, consolidation and restoration works have been carried out, externally by the Superintendency of Fine Arts, internally by the property, always respecting the areas of high artistic value, the secondary elevations as well as the left side of the building, the area from which the Atelier was accessed, maintaining the shape of the two caryatids.
