Mausoleum of Halicarnassus

The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus is the monumental tomb that Artemisia had built for her husband and brother, Mausolus, satrap of Caria, in Halicarnassus (present-day Bodrum, Turkey) between 353 BC. and 350 BC.

It was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, it was built by Pythys and artists such as Briasside, Leochares, Timotheus and Skopas (the latter, from Paros) worked there.

It was destroyed by an earthquake and today only a few ruins are visible.
