Temple of Artemis

The temple of Artemis, or Artemisium, was an Ionic temple dedicated to the goddess Artemis, located in the city of Ephesus, in present-day Turkey, about 50 km from the city of Smyrna.

Due to its enormous size and the richness of the decorations, it was considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, but only minimal remains remain today.

The Temple of Artemis fell into ruin or was finally destroyed in AD 401.

It is considered one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world.
