Inside the Forte Marghera which is a nineteenth-century fortress and former barracks of the Italian Army located in Venice, there is the small port, where there are two two-storey French barracks (1805-1814).
Made of Istrian stone and with an anti-blast cover, they were designed for housing troops (with a capacity of 150-200 men each), but also for the protection of a possible evacuation, acting, thanks to their massive structure , from the extreme bulwark.
Also in the central body, behind the front ramparts, there are also two powder cases: they have a bomb-proof barrel roof and Istrian stone finishes.
One dates back to the French period and the other to the Austrian period.
Together with the fortification, a military canal was also dug to reach the lagoon more quickly, directly connected to the marina.
Now the area of ??the marina is open for events to the citizens who can go to relax even during the week as there are also places nearby for an aperitif or dinner.
