Archaeological Complex of San Pasquale

The Archaeological Complex of San Pasquale in Trastevere (Rome) is located under the Church of Santi Quaranta Martiri and San Pasquale Baylon.

During the restoration work, an archaeological area of great interest was found, which allowed for a journey through time along an ancient road: insulae then transformed into a rich domus, frescoes and mosaics from the imperial era, the medieval transformation and the construction of the limestone that probably served the construction site of the nearby basilica of Santa Cecilia, make this place particularly interesting and full of charm, allowing the interpretation of the transformations over time in this area.

The excavation area has brought to light the structures of the Bolani insula from the Middle Imperial era, of which traces of mosaics and wall frescoes still remain. Above the late ancient and medieval stratification with the presence of domus and burial grounds.
