Villamiroglio Village
Villamiroglio is an Italian town located in the Piedmont region, in the province of Alessandria. The town's history dates back to Roman times, when a colony was founded in the area.
During the Middle Ages, Villamiroglio was part of the Marquisate of Monferrato and underwent various dominations, including that of the Visconti and Savoia. In the 18th century, the town was affected by the phenomenon of banditry, which led to the construction of numerous watchtowers to protect the population.
In the 19th century, with the arrival of industrialization, Villamiroglio experienced a period of economic development thanks to agriculture and the production of fabrics. During the Second World War, the town suffered several bombings which caused damage to structures and homes.
After the war, Villamiroglio developed as an agricultural and tourist center, thanks to the beauty of the area and the presence of important historical and cultural sites, such as the Church of San Giacomo Maggiore and the Castle of Villamiroglio. Today, the town retains its peaceful atmosphere and peasant tradition, offering visitors an authentic experience of the Lower Monferrato.
