Bannerman Castle, a former ammunition depot in ruins, located on Pollepel Island in the Hudson River, 80 kilometers from New York.
The island was purchased by Francis Bannerman VI in 1901 for the construction of a warehouse in which to store the surplus of military equipment that the entrepreneur sold in the New York shop to collectors who love vintage weapons.
Rather than building a classic warehouse, Bannerman sketched the structure he wanted built that unmistakably evoked his Scottish origins - the result was a whimsical castle clearly visible from the riverside with a simpler building next to it.
Unfortunately, only two years after the completion of the works and the death of the owner, an explosion seriously damaged the structure.
