The Asiago Astrophysical Observatory - Virtual Tour 360°

The Asiago Astrophysical Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned by the University of Padua and managed by the Physics and Astronomy Department of the University of Padua.

Founded in 1942, since 2001 the instrument has also been used for teaching and university orientation purposes, its use is also addressed as a test bed for advanced optical technologies necessary for the operation of future optical telescopes with a diameter of 50-100 m.

The structure was designed by the architect Daniele Calabi in the thirties of the last century, in a very particular style.

It consists of two distinct domes: the first housed the 122 cm Galileo telescope while the second housed a 67/92 cm Schmidt telescope (the telescope was moved to the top of Ekar in 1991, so that today the second dome is empty and is used as a teaching room).
