Circumetnea Railway - Randazzo
The building is of massive construction with two elevations, of a classical shape from the period between the two wars. The apron had two specialized platforms for passenger service and a freight bundle. On the north-west side of the station there was the storage and loading / unloading goods bundle with loading platform.
The station was built as part of the cumbersome railway construction project implemented around the second half of the seventies of the nineteenth century, in Sicily, with the main purpose of connecting to the Leonforte sulfur basin and at the same time connecting the center and the productive areas of the Etna / Peloritan foothills area with the city of Messina and its port.
The project, started in 1928, ended due to the Second World War and the line was opened under strong popular pressure only in 1956. Despite the incoming railway line alongside that of the Circumetnea railway arriving at its station, the two always came kept separate and without any connection, effectively hindering the interchange of travelers.
