The museum has 25 trams and 10 buses in the main collection. The old vehicles represent all eras of Oslo's public transport history. The museum is run by enthusiasts from the Local Traffic History Association and is located in Majorstuen.
In Sporveismuseet Vognhall 5 in Majorstua you will find many of Oslo's old buses and trams. The oldest is a horse-drawn tram from 1875, the youngest a subway car from 1967. The collection therefore contains 135 years of urban history. But here is also a watertight teak wagon from Holmenkollbanen, the last trolleybus in Oslo, the Gullfisker and Høka wagons. Old buses also have their place, with the "Adjust bus" being the oldest.
You can't just look at the carriages, most are open to the public as well. Here you can experience what traveling by tram was like almost 100 years ago. Or be a train driver on the Holmenkollbanen, the pictures and films give you an insight into the city's varied public transport history.
There are also regular guided tours of the museum. We also organize guided tours with Bussringen, and once a month a veteran tram runs between Stortorvet and Majorstua (see separate notices in "What's on").
The Tram Museum is operated on a voluntary basis with the support of Ruter.
