Oscarshall - Frognerkilen Pleasure Palace on the Bygdøy peninsula, open to the public in summer. Visitors can also visit the surrounding park and the Queen Joséphine Gallery Café in the annex next to the museum shop.

The Oscarshall was built from 1847 to 1852 by the Danish architect Johan Henrik Nebelong, commissioned by King Oscar I, and has been available to the king since 1863.

It is considered a Neo-Gothic masterpiece in Norway and is one of the country's leading national romantic memorials. The grounds include a main building, a park that slopes down to the water, and an open pavilion.

Tours Guided tours in Norwegian are offered hourly and all of the lounge, dining room, king's apartment and queen's apartment. The last tour of the day starts at 4pm. Tickets are on sale in the museum shop. Group tours are available, but must be booked in advance.

In the 1920s it underwent a refurbishment and when Prince Princess Märtha of Sweden in January 1929, it was soon decided that Oscarshall would be their home.

However, in its current form it was not large or modern enough to be a family home and an architectural competition was held with the intent of erecting a new wing on the western side of the existing building.
