The Dolby Theater (formerly Kodak Theater) is a theater located in Hollywood (Los Angeles), California, within the Hollywood and Highland shopping complex. Designed by architect David Rockwell and the Rockwell Group, the theater was inaugurated on November 9, 2001, and from the following year hosts the Academy Awards ceremony, the so-called night of the Oscars.
A very long red velvet red carpet decorated with flowers and giant statuettes that leads to the immense audience of stars in evening gowns. This is how we are used to thinking of the Kodak Theater: "The Most Glamorous Place On Earth" as Americans define it with their usual emphasis.
This huge 3,200-seat theater is usually a cinema and only rarely hosts shows throughout the year.
