Popsenteret

The Popsenteret is a permanent exhibition of the museum, you can, through sounds, images and rarities, experience Norwegian folk music from the first commercial recordings in 1904 until today.

In "History Walk", music, instruments, clips and technological innovations an image of popular music in Norway through the ages. In a two-level "path" popular music is emphasized in all its breadth.

What many believe is a term for pop and rock only, shows the opposite of music which is popular all the time.

Did you know, for example, that revue and jazz were the most popular party music among young people in the 1930s?

Upstairs you'll also find rarities and memorabilia known and unknown, and not least the technical advances that brought music to the people.
