The Fisogni Museum of service stations (formerly also SIRM Museum and Ormad-Valseveso Museum), located in Tradate, is a museum of petrol pumps and collectibles of petrol stations founded by Guido Fisogni in 1966.
Inside, with about 8000 pieces including pumps, signs and gadgets, there is the most complete collection in the world of petrol and petrol stations (certified Guinness World Record in 2000). The Museum is also part of the Lombard Circuit of Design Museums and the Italian Design Field Network, promoted by the Milan Triennale (which also exhibits two distributors of the Fisogni collection).
A curious collection of a private citizen who, working in the sector, during his life has collected, preserved and restored in an impeccable way numerous petrol stations, oil cans and all the gadgets related to the world of oil, oils and in general the car.
In addition, the museum received the Guinness World Record certificate in March 2000 for being the most comprehensive collection on the subject in the world, the record was published in the 2002 edition of the World Record Book.
The Fisogni Museum was born in 1966 in Palazzolo Milanese. The entrepreneur Guido Fisogni, accountant son of the general of the Alpini and aristocrat Federico Fisogni and of the countess Elisabetta Barbiano di Belgioioso and grandson of the politician Carlo Fisogni, at the time built and renovated service stations in Italy and in Europe, and started the his vast collection starting with a Bergomi petrol pump with matching pentaliters, found abandoned in 1961.
