The Padlock Museum, located in the province of Parma, is the first in the world dedicated to these small objects: the collection on display is that of Vittorio Cavalli, a carpenter who became a collector of padlocks after having received one during his military service and who in seventy years has collected over 4,000 portable locks of all kinds, ages, materials, sizes and shapes, from all over the world, especially from Europe and Asia.
The museum exhibits the Vittorio Cavalli collection retracing the stages in the history of the padlock, in a geographical perspective that ranges from Europe to China, Africa to the Asian worlds.
The collection, unique of its kind, is made up of over 4000 historical padlocks of all kinds and shapes. Among the various types of locks, we remember the spring, drum, combination, talismanic, zoomorphic padlocks.
