The building of the Boschi Di Stefano House-Museum in Milan was built between 1929 and 1931 under the supervision of the architect Piero Portaluppi - former designer of Villa Necchi Campiglio - by the company Di Stefano and Radici: Francesco Di Stefano was the father of the recipient of the accommodation, Marieda Di Stefano (1901-1968).
Since February 2003, the historic residence has been open to the public and since October 2008, it has been part of the "Milan Museum Houses" circuit: a selection of over two hundred pictorial works from the collection that belonged, together with the house, to Marieda herself and the husband Antonio Boschi (1896-1987), who turned the house into an inhabited museum.
Architecturally, the building that houses the art gallery stands out on the outside for its characteristic "corner" structure, while the interiors - both the common parts and the apartments - are enriched, according to Portaluppi's typical style, by large and elegant windows art deco style railings.
Since 16 May 2009, the House-Museum, owned by the Municipality of Milan, can be visited free of charge from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5.30pm thanks also to the presence of the Lombard Cultural Heritage Volunteers of the Italian Touring Club.
Since 2017, the former Marieda di Stefano Ceramics School can also be visited, on the ground floor of the building, home to temporary exhibitions.
