The Trabia Tallarita Mine Museum (Solfare Museum) is located near the Trabia Tallarita mine, located between Sommatino and Riesi in the province of Caltanissetta.
The main exhibition is located in the building of the former Palladio power plant, a relevant example of industrial archeology from the early twentieth century.
The museum is conceived as an educational-multimedia space, in which various aspects of the activity of the sulfur mines have been reconstructed: from the building structures to the industrial ones to the lives of the men employed in the various stages of processing.
The multimedia part of the museum includes the reconstruction of a shaft (which aims to convey the sensation of descending into a mine), the crossing of an immersive chamber (with 360° video projections) and the interactive display of the three Franco Tosi engines (the original electrical generators of the power station).
