The Museum of Sardinian Life and Popular Traditions (ISRE - Museum of Costume) is located in Nuoro.
The museum, which stands on the hill of Sant'Onofrio, collects clothes and objects typical of Sardinian life and crafts.
The complex of buildings that houses the museum was built between 1950 and 1960 based on a design by the architect Antonio Simon Mossa and was called the Museum of Costume and Popular Arts.
It changed its name in 1972, with the creation of the Higher Regional Ethnographic Institute (ISRE), of which it became the property. It was opened to the public in 1976; since 2004 the museum has been redeveloped and enlarged.
It has been renamed the Sardinian Ethnographic Museum.
