St. Maria of Miracoli Church - Virtual Tour 360°

The church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli is a church in Rome, in the Campo Marzio district, in Piazza del Popolo, between via del Corso and via di Ripetta, or rather at the top of the Trident. It is popularly known as the twin church of Santa Maria in Montesanto, although the two structures differ mainly in the layout.

However, the new church was begun only 14 years after the pope's order, in 1675, and 13 years after the foundation of the so-called twin church of Santa Maria di Montesanto. The church was completed in 1679 and only two years later it was consecrated and opened to the public.

In 1793 the church was granted to the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament and in 1856 to the Archconfraternity of San Gregorio Taumaturgo. Since 1915 the church has been officiated by the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Betharram, who previously occupied the Church of the Holy Guardian Angels al Tritone, which has now disappeared.

In via del Corso the bell tower rises, mirroring that of the nearby Santa Maria di Montesanto, attributed to Francesco Navone. The first documented works by Francesco Antonio Navone are those carried out in 1758, as coadjutor of his father Giandomenico Navone, for the bell tower of Santa Maria dei Miracoli.
