Slivia Towers Cave

The Slivia Towers Cave is still considered, due to its incredible wealth of concretions, one of the wonders of the Trieste Karst.

It has been known to man since time immemorial and the identification number 22 in the regional land registry indicates how this was among the first to be explored on the Karst of the over 3,000 caves currently registered, the tourist adaptation dates back to the mid-1960s.

On the Karst, karst takes its name, furrowed fields, sinkholes and caves are part of daily life today and yesterday. There, at the gates of the ancient village of Silvia, 114 meters above sea level and 101 meters deep, the Cave of the Towers (Pejca v Lascu), offers the visitor an underground journey, among stalactites and large stalagmites, full of emotions unique.

The cavity develops in rooms adorned with beautiful concretions, with stalagmites, up to 8 meters high and weighing up to 10 tons. The most famous are the Slivia towers, a group of eight concretions of different sizes, from which the cave takes its name.
