Trutto Cave in PutignanoThe Trullo Cave is among the most evocative karst cavities in the Apulian territory.
Its modest dimensions, together with the surprising quantity of stalagmites and stalactites, make it a true jewel of age-old beauty.
The only cave, today, kept under a trullo, is the first tourist cave in Puglia.
The Trutto Cave in Putignano was discovered in 1931 during excavation works. Particularly fascinating for the imposing limestone structures found inside, the Grotto has been accessed since 1932 through a complex of magnificent trulli, connected to the Grotto with a suggestive spiral staircase that accompanies guests on a comfortable and safe vertical descent from the high which allows you to experience the thrill of true speleological discovery.
The internal route winds along a comfortable circular path that allows you to admire the splendid alabaster concretions, with soft colors that vary from white to pink. The entire route is optimally lit and the visit lasts 40 minutes, conducted by speleologists who accompany the guest on an exciting journey between nature and history. Open all year.
Visit to the Castellana Caves, a journey to the center of the earth among multicolored stone embroideries immersed in grandiose caves. The Castellana Caves are a complex of underground cavities of karst origin among the most beautiful in Italy. They extend over a length of approximately 3300 meters and a maximum depth of 122 meters with a constant temperature of approximately 16° throughout the year. The route winds for three km, an unmissable guided excursion in an incredible setting, where underground canyons, caves with fantastic names, fossils, stalactites and stalagmites stimulate the imagination of adults and children.
