Village Mosnel Franciacorta

Village Mosnel Franciacorta is a winery located in Camignone, Franciacorta, Italy. It is known for its high-quality Franciacorta wines, made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. The winery offers guided tours and tastings, as well as a restaurant and shop.

History

Following the Battle of Maclodio in 1427, known as the Battle of Carmagnola, the Brescia territory definitively passed under the Serenissima Republic of Venice. At that time the patrician families began to build cellars surmounted by summer villas and surrounded by limited extensions planted with vines.

This is the case of the Borgo Mosnel, located in the Camignone area (formerly Ca' Minor as a monastic settlement of small importance dependent on the important Benedictine abbey complex in Rodengo). From an initial sixteenth-century palace which sees the stairwell cutting through a fourteenth-century fresco of San Girolamo we move on to a more important and extensive seventeenth-century palace which in the neo-classical era partly underwent considerable renovation.

Ownership of the complex passed in 1836 from Giovanni Battista Cacciamatta to his adoptive daughter Rosina Rosa Cacciamatta, wife of Pietro Paolo Barboglio.
These are families linked to the Italian Risorgimento: Rosina's brother was Gabriele Rosa, patriot, writer and follower of Giovine Italia celebrated as a hero of the Resistance for having been imprisoned in 1833 in the Spielberg fortress.

It is possible, by reservation only, to visit the cellar and the village and then taste the Mosnel wines accompanied by local specialties. Bicycles and picnic backpacks are available for free excursions along the two recommended routes: the Rose Route (4 km) and the Tasso Route (7 km) which branch out across the 41 hectares of our vineyards cultivated with organic farming .

Borgo Mosnel is in Camignone di Passirano in Contrada Barboglio (named after the family who inherited the property in 1836).

Entering the district (from the vineyards) from the west, on the sides you can observe typical examples of Lombard farmhouses from the 17th and 18th centuries. for decades used as cellars with steel tanks, wooden barrels and stacks of aging bottles of Franciacorta Mosnel. The farmhouse and company reception space are also located here.

Its opening hours are:

Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 6.30pm
Saturday: 10:00 - 13:00, 14:00 - 18:30
Sunday: 10:00 - 13:00, 14:00 - 18:30
If you are interested in Franciacorta wines, I highly recommend you visit Borgo Mosnel Franciacorta.

It is possible to book a visit and tasting online or by telephone.
