Villa Paradiso of PiancianoThe family of the Pianciani counts, among the most illustrious in Umbria, began building the Villa Paradiso of Pianciano in the Spina valley towards the end of the 1600s. According to tradition, the Strada della Spina was the scene of Hannibal's passage on his march towards Spoleto after the battle of Lake Trasimeno (217 BC), as attested by the geographical map of 1580 exhibited in the gallery of the Vatican Museums.
Following the extinction of the Pianciani, in 1911 Villa Paradiso, together with the vast surrounding farm, was purchased by the Bachetoni Rossi Vaccari family, the current owners. The architect Tomaso Buzzi intervened in the 1970 restoration, and designed the octagonal hole in the ballroom.
Since then, the Pianciano Paradise – Italian Historic Residence – has offered the enchantment of staying in a place out of time, offering an authentic experience of enjoying art, nature and the Italian lifestyle.
Villa Paradiso is a monumental villa in Naples, located between the Rione Alto and the Hospital Area, in the Arenella district.
It was born in the early years of the twentieth century from the unification of two previous properties, the eighteenth-century Villa Romeo and the nineteenth-century Villa Ruffo di Scilla. The unification of the two properties and the construction of the current Villa Paradiso in neoclassical style is due to the knight Enrico Paradiso of Potenza. The property was located in the final part of the Salita Montedonzelli all'Arenella, today called via Castellino.
Having survived the twentieth-century building speculations, it keeps the upper part of its garden intact, which includes a nineteenth-century chapel (deconsecrated and later rehabilitated for worship by Cardinal Ruffo in 1923, at the behest of the daughters of Cavaliere Paradiso), a well and some pigeon houses; while in the lower part a scientific high school and a housing park were built.
