Clavesana Castle Museum Complex

The `Clavesana Castle` Museum Complex includes the Ethnographic Museum and the Permanent Exhibition on Ligurian Women and is located in the thirteenth-century Clavesana Castle (photo opposite).

The Museum presents a lively cross-section of nineteenth-century life relating to the home, crafts, agriculture and seafaring, with tools 'animated' by life-size mannequins and period costumes.

It constitutes the most precious and complete testimony of the genre in all of western Liguria.

The permanent exhibition on Ligurian women, set up by the ARCADIA Cultural Association of Diano Marina, is made up of over 250 dolls dressed according to the fashion of the time, with handmade clothes and lace. It recounts the traditions, habits, customs, work, free time and social achievements of the Ligurian woman along the path of a century
