Red Palace

The building was built between 1671 and 1677. The authorship of the building is attributable to the architect Pietro Antonio Corradi, while the construction site and the works were directed by Matteo Lagomaggiore.

The building is set on a U-shaped plan, derived from the typologies applied by Bartolomeo Bianco.

The two wings are joined by loggias that define the internal courtyard with a square plan.

Each of the two noble floors has the usual layout which includes a loggia and hall in an axial position, and a row of rooms on either side.

The Palace is set in the extraordinary setting of Via Garibaldi, the magnificent Renaissance and Baroque New Road declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is home to an original museum itinerary that connects three important Genoese palaces: Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Doria Tursi.

In Red Palace, a noble residence adorned with frescoes by the greatest Ligurian painters of the seventeenth century and precious furnishings, there is a rich picture gallery that includes paintings collected over more than two centuries by the noble Brignole-Sale family.

Among the artists exhibited in the gallery of the aristocratic Genoese palace: Dürer, Veronese, Guercino, Strozzi, Grechetto, Van Dyck, and many others.
