Fort Pastiss

Forte Pastiss, the historic underground fortress built in the 16th century by the will of Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia in Turin.

The casemate, designed outside the moat of the Citadel of Turin to allow the enemy to be hit from behind, is located under via Papacino, on the corner with corso Matteotti.

Partly destroyed between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, it was rediscovered in 1958 by the then colonel Guido Amoretti and the speleologist Cesare Volante.

In recent years it has been taken over by the Associazione Amici del Museo Pietro Micca, which has excavated to bring it back to light.
