On the ground floor there are the prehistoric, Bronze Age and Iron Age sections of the city (as well as a sampling of prehistoric materials from the lagoon) with the display of prehistoric finds from the Mesolithic to the passage from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age and pre-Roman artefacts relating to the town, places of worship and the necropolis, including two horse burials.

Sale del museo

The reconstructions of important funerary contexts in a wooden box and in a tile enclosure testify to the funeral rituals of Altino in the fifth century BC. and during the Romanization period.

Continue on the first floor with the indigenous settlement of the Romanization period and with the Roman city of Altinum.

The itinerary analyzes the elements of continuity and change determined by the progressive contact with the reality of Rome and documents the various aspects of the public and private life of the municipality: urban planning, architecture, articulation of society, artistic expression, commerce.

The museum and the nearby archaeological site of Altino are included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Venice and its lagoon".
