Convent of the Presentation of the Passionist Fathers

The facade of the Convent of the Presentation of the Passionist Fathers was built in 1856 and has a neoclassical facade.

The interior preserves some important works: the Madonna and Child who hands the plan of the convent by Pietro Aldi (1880) to St. Paul of the Cross, which can be taken as a manifesto of the congregation; the "Presentation of Mary in the Temple", by Sebastiano Conca; the "Madonna and Child holding the Sacred Heart and St. Joseph in the background", by Pompeo Batoni.

The convent is the first created by St. Paul of the Cross in 1737 for the congregation of Passionist friars, a congregation that remembers and is inspired by the mendicant orders such as the Franciscans and Dominicans. At the time the convent was built it was certainly a place where a hermit's life was led as the area at the foot of the Argentario was affected by malaria.

Today, especially in summer, it is a place to meditate in an area of ??holidays and social life. The panorama is unique and allows you to see the Orbetello lagoon, the feniglia and the Giannella up to see Talamone to the north and Montalto di Castro to the south.

From the convent you can continue up to Monte Telegrafo. The convent has a small shop where religious items and congregational-inspired publications as well as products such as the Argentarium herbal liqueur can be purchased. A short distance away there is the refreshment the source.

???????

The convent church is small with an elliptical plan with the portrait of the Madonna Regina dell'Argentario. Masses, when a greater influx is expected, are nevertheless held in the suggestive setting of the external courtyard.
