The Synagogue of Cuneo, located in via Mondovì, is a still intact example of a Piedmontese ghetto synagogue, renovated during the Emancipation era. The synagogue of Cuneo was built in 1611 in the heart of the recently established ghetto.
The place of worship remained uninterrupted in the same area, but in 1884 following the Emancipation the temple was completely renovated both outside and inside. Two tombstones remain as a reminder of the old building.
The first recalls the dedication of the temple in 1611; the second celebrates a happy event (the "Purim of the bomb"), when in 1799 on the occasion of the siege of the Napoleonic troops on the city of Cuneo a cannon shot penetrated the synagogue during a function without causing any casualties among the numerous present.
